Terms of Service

Nutrifax is operated by Novadiem. By creating an account or using the site you agree to these terms. Last updated 3 September 2026.

Read this one first

Nutrifax generates Nutrition Facts labels in the FDA and CFIA formats and applies each regulator's rounding rules. It does not certify your product or guarantee that a label will pass inspection. You are responsible for the accuracy of your recipe, your serving size, your allergen and ingredient statements, and the finished package. See Labels and regulatory compliance.

Your account

You need an account to save recipes and generate labels. You must give an accurate email address, keep your password to yourself, and you are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be 13 or older. One person, one account. Tell us at once if you think someone else is using yours.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, attacks the service, or is used for fraud. If we close your account for a reason other than a breach, we will refund the unused portion of a current subscription period.

Memberships and Ω tokens

Nutrifax has a free tier and paid memberships. Ω is the in-app credit you spend on individual actions such as generating a label, tiling a sheet, running an AI import, or producing an audit report.

• The free tier includes a limited lifetime number of saved recipes and a starting Ω balance.
• Paid memberships are billed in advance, monthly or annually, through Stripe, and renew automatically until you cancel.
• Ω you buy in a pack does not expire while your account is open. Ω granted monthly with a membership does not roll over; each month's grant replaces the last.
• Prices are shown in CAD or USD depending on your region, and exclude taxes unless stated.

Cancellation and refunds

Cancel any time from the Settings page. You keep your tier until the end of the period you have already paid for, and we do not prorate or refund a partial period. There are no early termination fees.

Ω already spent is not refundable. Unused Ω is not redeemable for cash. If a technical fault on our side causes a failed generation to consume Ω, tell us and we will credit it back.

We may change prices. If a price change affects an active subscription, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email, and it takes effect at your next renewal.

Labels and regulatory compliance

This is the part that matters most, so it is worth being exact.

Nutrifax calculates nutrition from Health Canada's Canadian Nutrient File and the USDA's FoodData Central, and renders a Nutrition Facts panel in the FDA 2016 format, rounded per 21 CFR 101.9, or a CFIA Nutrition Facts table, rounded per B.01.402.

What that does not mean:

• We do not certify, approve, or warrant that any label complies with the law in your jurisdiction.
• The numbers depend on the ingredients and quantities you enter and the source foods you match them to. Wrong input produces a wrong label, and we cannot detect that for you.
• Serving size must come from the reference amount for your food category. Choosing it is your call, and it shifts every number on the panel.
• Database-calculated values are an accepted route in both countries, but they are not lab analysis. Some products and some claims require testing.
• Nutrition Facts is one part of a compliant package. Ingredient lists, allergen declarations, net quantity, bilingual requirements, claims, and country of origin are yours to get right.

Check your finished label against current regulations for your product and jurisdiction before you print it, and get professional advice if you are unsure. Our guides are educational and are not legal advice.

Your content

Your recipes, images, and prices stay yours. You give us the licence we need to host, process, and display them so the service works: storing them, calculating nutrition, rendering labels, and showing them back to you.

If you publish a recipe to the public cookbook or share it with a link, you are giving us permission to display it publicly for as long as you leave it published. You can unpublish at any time. Do not upload content you do not have the rights to.

Labels, PDFs, and audit reports you generate are yours to use commercially, including on product packaging you sell. We claim no ownership of them and charge no royalty.

Acceptable use

Do not use Nutrifax to break the law, misrepresent a product's nutrition, upload someone else's copyrighted recipes as your own, scrape or bulk-extract the food database, resell access to the service, or attack the infrastructure. Automated access outside a documented API is not allowed without our written agreement.

Food data

Nutrient values come from government datasets published by Health Canada and the USDA. Those datasets carry their own terms and their own accuracy limits, and they describe representative foods rather than the specific lot you bought. See where our food data comes from.

Availability

We aim to keep Nutrifax running, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. If we retire something you rely on, we will give reasonable notice and, where we can, a way to export your data first.

Disclaimer and liability

Nutrifax is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits, recalls, reprinting costs, or regulatory penalties.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for material changes we will notify account holders by email. Continuing to use Nutrifax after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of British Columbia, unless the consumer law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim closer to home.
