Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat.
Stir in the sugar until combined. Add the eggs one at a time, stirring well after each. Stir in the vanilla.
Add the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold gently until just combined — don’t overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 22–25 minutes. The brownies are done when a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
Cool completely in the pan before cutting into 16 squares.
